IWD is a global day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, as well as calling for action to accelerate women's equality. Our mission is to raise greater awareness about issues impacting women's equality, highlight important gains that are being made, and celebrate women's accomplishments.

For well over a century, IWD has been celebrated, with the first gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere, and it's not country, group, or a specific organization.
